HOW DOES IT WORK?
Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) or skin needling treatments stimulate the production of your own natural collagen and promote the regeneration of skin cells through a natural healing process.
Skin needling is a minimally-invasive, medically-approved treatment for building new collagen and promoting healthy and glowing skin. Utilising the Exceed system, small, sterilised needles create microscopic wounds on the skin’s surface that penetrate to the sub-dermal layers. These aren’t harmful, but rather stimulate amazing rejuvenating effects that treat a wide range of skin concerns!
The main principle behind skin needling is to create controlled injuries that stimulate the skin’s natural regenerative ability. Your skin is comprised of several structural proteins, such as collagen, that generate rapidly when the skin is injured. By creating micro-injuries, the skin’s cell turnover rate is sped up. Old, damaged skin cells are shed for fresh new ones as you heal.

TREATMENT COURSE & RESULTS
A skin needling course of 3 – 6 sessions spaced 4 – 6 weeks apart is recommended. These are quick and easy 30-minute sessions that deliver powerful results and minimal downtime compared to other similar invasive skincare treatments.
As skin needling repairs the skin from the inside out, it will take time for results to fully develop. Some clients may notice immediate improvement such as their skin glowing lightly after their treatment. Skin needling results will continue to improve over the next few weeks after the final session and can last for up to 12 months.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY
To prep, we cleanse the skin and sterilise it with alcohol. This is followed up with a topical anaesthesia to ensure your comfort and that minimal to no pain is felt during the procedure.
During the skin needling treatment, the EXCEED tool is gently glided across the skin’s surface where micro needles create small punctures to induce natural collagen production. The device runs quietly as a low vibration is felt on the skin.
Finishing off the skin needling session, we use an Epi Nouvelle mask to help reduce post-treatment swelling and redness, as well as overall downtime. Beneficially, the tiny punctures created by the skin needling treatment also allow for better absorption of skincare products, so the repair process is enhanced!

PREPARATION AND AFTERCARE
We recommend not using active skincare ingredients such as retinols 3 days prior to your skin needling treatment.
For skin needling aftercare, actives should also be avoided for a total of 5 days following the procedure.
Avoid makeup and sunscreen for the first 24 hours after skin needling, as well as direct sunlight for 48 hours after the treatment.
To make the most out of the results, staying hydrated also does wonders as it is crucial for the natural skin restoration process!

MAINTENANCE
Our therapist will work with you to come up with a custom maintenance plan. Keep in mind, all anti-ageing treatments are not permanent (if someone tells you they are – run!)
On average, the turnover time it takes for your skin to heal is 3 – 4 weeks – this can vary depending on age, genetics, and lifestyle. In general, we recommend our clients tend to drop by for a skin touchup every 6 – 8 weeks.

The Technology
OUR EQUIPMENT
EXCEED is a medical-grade microneedling pen for the treatment of ageing, scarring, and overall skin health. TGA-approved and the first FDA-cleared device of its kind, EXCEED is quickly surpassing similar devices because of its excellent skin trauma-minimising capabilities.
EXCEED causes much less damage to the epidermis than dermal rolling or many other microneedling devices available on the market. Other devices tend to use more needles which push down on the skin before actually penetrating it, creating micro-tears and causing unnecessary trauma. In comparison, the EXCEED uses only 6 pinpoint sharp stainless needles of the highest medical grade which helps to reduce surface tension. Clients can expect a much shorter post-treatment downtime when using a skin needling machine like the EXCEED.
The EXCEED’s flexible needle plate also allows for the needles to release easily from the skin following penetration. During the skin needling procedure, the pen moves laterally and its needles adjust accordingly to minimise epidermal trauma.
