EMSELLA FAQ: The Breakthrough Technology for Incontinence & More

Why risk surgery or wait years hoping that kegel exercises will solve your urinary incontinence problem?

For many women who experience the leaks following pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, or aging, rehabilitation therapy involving pelvic floor exercises is what they first turn to for treatment. And if that fails – quite often in fact – the next option would have previously been surgery which poses its own risks.

Now say goodbye to these outdated solutions because, at TEMPL, we have the Emsella: the only device on the market specially designed and clinically proven to non-invasively treat the pelvic floor muscles and incontinence.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Emsella?

Shaped like a chair, the Emsella is a groundbreaking technology that provides non-invasive treatment for pelvic floor muscles that contribute to incontinence and intimate discomfort.

How can I benefit from Emsella?

Emsella helps to restore control of your pelvic floor muscles and bladder, as well as eliminate incontinence and intimate discomfort. During the treatment, you remain fully clothed as it is completely non-invasive.

Is Emsella right for me?

The Emsella is a fantastic option for women of all ages struggling with the following conditions:

  • Stress Incontinence – When stress is put on the bladder, usually when sneezing, coughing, or laughing.
  • Urge Incontinence – Occurs suddenly and involves a frequent and intense need to urinate, also known as key-in-the-door syndrome.
  • Mixed Incontinence – Includes a combination of the above types of incontinence.
  • Pain, discomfort, or reduced sensation during sexual intimacy.
  • Organ Prolapse – Loss of vaginal and uterine support.

Men can also benefit greatly from Emsella in treating incontinence and erectile dysfunction.

How does Emsella work?

The Emsella uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to stimulate contractions in the pelvic floor muscles. Magnets activate motor neurons within the muscles, causing them to contract involuntarily, in turn, building pelvic floor muscle mass and strength and thereby restoring proper support of the pelvic organs.

A single 28-minute session brings you 20,000 supramaximal contractions which is the equivalent of performing 11,200 Kegel exercises – an amount you won’t be able to do on your own!

How does Emsella compare to other treatments?

The Emsella is one-of-a-kind for its ability to specifically target deep pelvic floor contractions.

Other procedures such as intravaginal electrostimulation are invasive, pose the risk of burns, and are not as effective (electrical currents treat tissue only superficially).

Meanwhile, non-invasive solutions such as doing manual Kegel exercises don’t boast a high rate of success. Many patients are not able to activate their pelvic floor muscles properly, let alone build a consistent routine of doing Kegels 3x per day with hundreds of repetitions for visible results.

What does the Emsella procedure involve and feel like?

The treatment is non-invasive so you remain fully clothed throughout the entire process. All you have to do is sit upright on the Emsella chair. You will feel a slight tingling sensation and vibrations in your pelvic floor muscles, which will then turn into full contractions. This will be completely comfortable, tolerable, and painless.

Is there any downtime?

Unlike surgery, there is no downtime involved with the Emsella. You can expect to walk in and out of our store in under 30 minutes and get back to your daily life uninterrupted.

Is it safe?

The Emsella is FDA-cleared, medical CE-marked, and TGA-approved with no risks or side effects. The energy the device releases is non-thermal, non-radiating, and non-anodizing, unlike other incontinence technology that claim to treat the pelvic floor.

How long does the Emsella treatment take?

A single Emsella treatment at our Brighton boutique takes 28 minutes. Depending on the treatment area, a course of approximately 6-8 treatments (2 per week) will be required before significant changes can be seen.

How fast will I see results?

Following your first treatment, you will be able to feel a difference in the treated area immediately. You will then continue to notice gradual improvements with every completed session. Of course, this may vary depending on your age, physical condition, and other factors.

How long do the results last?

Nothing in life lasts forever and that’s natural. You will never regress back to where you were at the start of your treatment course however there is maintenance required. This is no cause for concern as our trained therapists will help to schedule any follow-up treatments needed to keep you in tip-top shape. Keeping a healthy lifestyle is also key to maintaining your results in the longer term.

How much does it cost?

This will vary from person to person. We will have to see you first to determine your medical condition and the grade of incontinence. This will give us an idea of how many treatments to recommend you to get the result you are after.

To aid you with the costs, we have a couple of resources that might come in handy:
